What ITAR Means

Why ITAR compliance matters for your supplier base.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) controls the export and transfer of defense articles, technical data, and defense services. For aerospace and defense buyers, working with an ITAR-compliant manufacturer is not optional — it is a federal compliance requirement under 22 CFR §120-130.

Defense procurement officers face real risk when controlled drawings, STEP models, or program details are shared with a supplier that lacks ITAR controls. A single mishandled file can trigger State Department enforcement action, program shutdowns, and criminal liability for the prime contractor.

Argent Advanced Manufacturing was founded specifically to serve this requirement. U.S.-only manufacturing capacity, ITAR-controlled data handling, and dedicated registration in process with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).

Argent’s ITAR posture

  • DDTC registration pending. Our DS-2032 registration is in process with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Registration completes our ability to manufacture and broker defense articles per ITAR §122.
  • U.S. suppliers only. Every manufacturing partner in our network operates from a U.S. facility with U.S. persons performing controlled work. No foreign sourcing, no offshore subassemblies.
  • Controlled drawing handling. Technical data is transmitted via ITAR-compliant channels, stored on access-controlled systems, and shared only with vetted U.S. persons on a need-to-know basis.
  • Export compliance documented. Every order ships with the documentation required for export control review, including supplier attestation and U.S. content verification.

Defense buyers can transmit controlled drawings to Argent with the same compliance posture they would expect from any established ITAR-registered manufacturer. Pending status reflects the calendar, not the discipline.

Capabilities

ITAR-controlled aerospace and defense manufacturing.

Argent manufactures hard-to-quote parts across five process areas, all under ITAR-controlled data handling and U.S. supplier execution:

  • EDM machining — wire, sinker, and small-hole EDM for hardened tool steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, and exotic alloys.
  • AWS D17.1 welding — fusion welding, TIG/GTAW, and Nadcap-accredited aerospace welding for Inconel, titanium, and exotic alloys.
  • Aerospace finishing & coatings — MIL-A-8625 anodizing, MIL-DTL-5541 alodine, AMS plating, MIL-PRF powder coat.
  • CNC machining — 5-axis, exotic alloy machining, large-format work, Swiss screw production.
  • Specialty processes — photochemical etching, spin forming, hot forming, hydroforming, deep draw, stamping.

Every capability is ITAR-controlled end-to-end. Our manufacturing partners are pre-qualified for U.S. persons execution, controlled drawing handling, and AS9100 quality systems.

Process

How ITAR-controlled work moves through Argent.

Step 01
Secure intake
Controlled drawings transmitted via ITAR-compliant channels. NDA executed before any technical data review.
Step 02
U.S. partner match
RFQ routed to the qualified U.S. manufacturing partner. U.S. persons attestation on file for every shop.
Step 03
Controlled production
Process traveler, inspection plan, and ITAR documentation locked in before production. No subcontracting outside the controlled network.

Defense procurement officers receive a single point of contact, a clear audit trail, and full export compliance documentation on every delivered part. The complexity of the controlled supply chain stays on our side.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is Argent currently ITAR-registered?
DDTC registration is in process. Our DS-2032 filing is active with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls and registration is expected within standard processing windows (typically 4–6 weeks). Argent operates with full ITAR-compliant data handling, U.S.-only manufacturing partners, and controlled drawing protocols during the registration period.
How does Argent handle ITAR-controlled drawings and technical data?
Controlled technical data is transmitted via ITAR-compliant secure channels, stored on access-controlled systems, and shared only with vetted U.S. persons on a need-to-know basis. We execute NDAs before any technical data review, log all access to controlled drawings, and maintain documentation per 22 CFR §120-130.
Are Argent’s manufacturing partners ITAR-registered?
Every manufacturing partner in the Argent network operates from a U.S. facility with U.S. persons performing controlled work. Partners are pre-qualified for U.S. persons attestation, controlled drawing handling, and ITAR-compliant production. We do not subcontract outside the qualified U.S. network.
Can Argent quote ITAR-controlled work today, before final registration?
Yes. Argent can receive controlled drawings under NDA, perform ITAR-compliant quoting through our U.S. partner network, and stage production for delivery once DDTC registration completes. We are transparent with buyers about registration timing on every RFQ.
What documentation does Argent provide on ITAR-controlled orders?
Every order ships with full traceability documentation: certificate of conformance, material certs with U.S. mill source, process certs (welding, finishing, NDE as applicable), AS9102 FAI when required, and export compliance attestation including U.S. content verification.
Need an ITAR-compliant manufacturer for your next program?
Send us your hardest controlled-drawing RFQ. We handle U.S.-only execution, ITAR-controlled data, and full export compliance documentation. Pending DDTC registration is a calendar issue, not a discipline issue — we operate to the standard from day one.
