AS9100 is the international quality management standard for the aerospace, space, and defense industries. Maintained by the SAE International (AS9100D / Rev D, 2016), it builds on ISO 9001 with aerospace-specific requirements for traceability, risk management, configuration control, and counterfeit parts prevention.
For prime contractors, working with an AS9100-certified machine shop is the entry requirement. Without it, your shop cannot supply parts to Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, or virtually any major aerospace or defense program. Most new-space buyers (Blue Origin, Stoke Space, Anduril, Hermeus) require AS9100 alignment even when they will accept a not-yet-certified supplier for non-flight hardware.

Aerospace quality is documented quality. Every part Argent delivers ships with the documentation a buyer’s receiving inspection team needs to clear it on first pass:
- Certificate of Conformance (C of C) — signed attestation that parts meet the specified requirements.
- AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) — complete first-piece dimensional and feature verification for production parts. Forms 1, 2, and 3 included as applicable.
- Material certifications — mill certs traceable to original heat lot, with U.S. mill verification for ITAR-controlled work.
- Process certifications — welding cert per AWS D17.1, finishing cert per MIL spec (e.g., MIL-A-8625), NDE results when specified.
- Lot traceability — every part traceable back through every process step to the original material lot.
- Nonconforming material reports — full disclosure of any deviation, dispositioned per AS9100 §8.7.
